Epistar expects business operations to peak in 3Q15

LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker Epistar, in view of large growth in demand for LED lighting and LED backlighting from China-based LCD TV vendors, expects its business operations to peak in the third quarter of 2015, with the corresponding net operating profit to exceed that for the first half of the year, according to company chairman Lee Biing-jye at the 2015 shareholder meeting on June 29.

Consolidated revenues for the first and second halves of 2015 will be in a ratio of 45:55, Lee said. Epistar expects to ship 285.811 billion LED chips in total in 2015, Lee indicated.

Epistar shareholders approved the company's fund-raising plan to issue up to 165 million new shares for floating GDRs (global depositary receipt) or private placement to bring in strategic investors, with the new shares to account for 13.03% of expanded paid-in capital.

Epistar shareholders also approved the distribution of a cash dividend per share of NT$0.8292 (US$0.0268) for 2014, accounting for 41.88% of the corresponding net EPS of NT$1.98.
